Parisian artist with Catalan roots, Karla Sutra, draws her inspiration from Mediterranean architecture, modern art, Japanese Hentai and the Kama Sutra. Her multidimensional work questions our link to sensuality, she considers the noble and carnal link between human beings to be lost. Her subtle aphrodisiac tiles trick the eye and stimulate senses by using the mural ceramic rhythm, hiding her love-making figures in spectacular choreographies, based on a mirror effect and an optical trompe l’oeil technique. These “sauteries illusionnistes” are to be contemplated as her sensual manifesto. The epicurean artist also finds an almost erotic link between body and food in her series of «surprise» plates showing smutty characters. Her sexy crockery and ceramic tiles are all hand painted and ornate the tables and walls of prominent restaurants in the French capital.
